Thomas Wiles, 74, and Joy Wiles, 75, were killed when a fire broke out shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday to the 6800 block of Stonewall Court in Adamstown, after being trapped in the upper floor of the home, officials confirmed.
Crews jumped into action and retrieved two from the house who were taken to the hospital by paramedics in cardiac arrest and later were pronounced dead. A third person staying in a basement apartment in the home escaped unharmed.
Both Wiles were rescued from the bedroom and rushed by paramedics in cardiac arrest to an area hospital where they later died.
It took approximately 60 firefighters to knock down the flames after more than a half hour, according to officials. There was no reported damage to any other structures in the area.
The origin and cause of the fire are now under investigation by state officials.
Following their deaths, friends and family took to social media to mourn the Wiles with a series of tributes.
